I just watched the most recent episode of Lie to Me (1x12, Blinded), and I am so freaked out by it. It's about a serial rapist who after abducting and raping the women, blinds them by pouring acid on their eyes.
Rape, on its own, is horrifying. I've been numbed a little by seeing (thankfully almost always non-graphic) rape on TV and film so many times that when it's fictional, it doesn't freak me out as it used to. Which is actually sad and scary, that violence against women is such a frequent topic that you end up building some immunity against it - but that's another topic. This one just got me so badly that I'm pretty certain I will have a nightmare about it tonight. Something about the cold open, the woman walking down the railway, wearing nothing but a shirt and a bloodied bandage around her eyes, with blood on her cheeks, seriously got me freaked out. It's a horrific story, and it's a normal reaction to be freaked out, but I am just way more disturbed than any other fictional story managed to disturb me.
