I've just returned from Minneapolis. It was quite a trip, so I'll give you an overview, besides, I feel like saying some things anyhow.
I'll take it chronologically if I can.
Nick Patten, Andrew Gramm, and I left after school on thursday at about 4:15 and arrived in Minneapolis around 10:30 that night. A fairly easy, however long and cold, drive. We met up with Mallory Binn and Rebecca. It was nice to see them both, particularly Rebecca as I always look forward to seeing her, and its quite a rarity when I do. Regardless, Rebecca and I went to Hard Times, which is a nice little cafe with an interesting atmosphere and drew pictures with some of her friends. The tea was excellent, too. I stayed the night in her room, and met up with the boys in the morning. At this point, everything was exciting and fun, and I was ecstatic to be there.
I really love that city, I do a lot.
Friday was our day for visiting colleges. The first we went to was Macalester. Andrew had an interview and we all took a tour. I really liked the school, and I hope Andrew decides to go there. It was a good time. We also had lunch with Mallorie at Chipotle, all of us eating gigantic burritos, what a time. Mallorie, later that day, gave us a small tour around the arts areas of UMN, which was nice. I was pleased. We also visited Zach Frame University, better known as McNally Smith School of Music, which was nice, but I'm not sure its my bag now that I've put thought into it. We visited with him for a bit and it was nice to see him. He needs to get out more. He does have a nice apartment, though.
At several points through the day, we visited Nick's aunt, who was very generous in letting us use her house for staying. We went out for pizza at Punch with her, which is an interesting place. They cook miniature pizzas in 90 seconds. They're pretty tasty. They use a big fire-oven at 800 degrees. Pretty cool.
I was supposed to stay the night at Rebecca's, but at last minute, she decided it might be better for me to stay elsewhere. This kind of hurt my feelings for some reason. I started to not feel so well that night. So the three of us boys stayed the night at Nick's aunt's place. It was pretty comfy, even on the floor.
It was at this point, despite my happiness with the city and schools,
I was becoming a little depressed due to negative 'vibes' coming from everybody.
Nick was a bit crabby, Rebecca was treating me distantly as she sometimes does, Nick's aunt was complaining about stuff.
Anyhow, Saturday. We went to an art museum with Rebecca for a bit, which was pretty excellent. Great art, a nice variety, though lacking in realism and classical art. Interesting and fun building. Very inspiring.
We also ate at a Vietnamese/Chinese restaurant called the Lucky Dragon, which was pretty darn good. An excellent selection of foods, and what we did get was pretty tasty and well prepared.
We bid farewell to Rebecca, which is always a bit heart-wrenching for me, and headed back to Nick's aunt's house to pick up our things and hit the road. The snow was heavy and the roads slick, but we left anyhow. We were all ready to go home, it seems, though I felt really at home in that city. The drive lasted MUCH longer than the ride out. It was also quite dangerous and nerve-wracking for us all, especially Nick Patten, whom I'm sure is glad to be asleep right now.
I'm glad I got to spend the quality time with Nick and Andrew, they're an excellent pair of fellows.
I'm feeling rather frown-faced right now, but I hope my mood picks up soon. I need to go back to my tedious routine of going nowhere.
Yee-haw.
Thanks for reading folks, keep in touch.
