John glanced at Gavin over the top of his sunglasses. "I've just gotta get my bearings. Relax, you've got nowhere to be."

"I don't," Gavin agreed with a little grin at that. It was nice to be able to relax. "Still, you drive us into the ocean, I am going to kick your ass."

"What if I drove us into the desert?" John teased, smirking mightily at the road.

"I think that'd depend on if we have enough water," Gavin said, glancing in the back seat to check their water supply. It was adequate. "But if you started going insane from heat, I'd have to put you down. I'd cry though, if that helps."

"Just make sure you catch your tears in a canteen," John warned. "No use being wasteful, Baby."

"Oh god, you didn't ask me to come with you to declare your love for me again, did you?" Gavin joked. "I didn't want to vomit in my mouth this trip."

John laughed, Gavin was working his role perfectly for this adventure. "Yes. I just needed to get you away from Fandom to do it right."

"If you're stealing me away to get married, I expect a rock and some really good sex," he joked easily, sliding on his own pair of sunglasses. "Them's my rules."

It was not the expected conversation, but it would suffice. "Yeah, you gotta get in your human quota before you start doing the interspecies thing."

"I'm open minded," he said and smiled. "If the parts fit, why not, right? This is a nice car. And it's a freaking tank. Big car."

John laughed again and flipped on the radio. "I like old, fast cars." He then proceeded to go into far too much detail about what had been done on the car and all the fantastic tickets he'd gotten driving the thing around without a license back in the day.

"Just means you gotta let me drive it at least once," Gavin decided, giving the car's seat a pat. "I won't wreck it, I promise. Hey, we could drag race someone!"

Glancing over with lifted brow John grinned. "You've seen too many movies."

"I get bored," Gavin said, shrugging. "How's stuff back at the island? Anything blow up?"

"Just your old room," John told him. "Turned out you'd left quite the impression on the furniture."

"My old room blew up?" Gavin asked, slanting a glance at John. "You're a liar."
