Pennsylvania time warp

Pennsylvania is trying to mess with my brain. After a long day of:
Driving,
Finding auto parts store
repairing mirror
driving
finding parking in NYC
Getting ass kicked for several hours by ex Cirque du Soleil silks instructor
driving a LOT
I see two highway signs, "California, 1/2mi" followed by "Lover, 1/2mi".
Ok, so, first off, how does the PA highway authority know where the hell my wife is? Second, my US Geography is admittedly weak, but I am pretty damn sure that unless they have invented one hell of a hyperspace shortcut, Cali is a bit more than 1/2 a mile from Pittsburgh. Note to Pa- if you have added such a hyperdimensional bypass route, please update Garmin, my GPS couldn't find it, so I am stuck taking the long way :(
