Philipines - Update 1

May 20, 2005 21:27

What a back breaking flight schedule I had....here's how it went...
0050 hours IST Malaysian Airlines flight to KL and I reached KL at 0730 hrs KL Time...
0930 took another Malaysian Airlines light to Manila, it had a stop over on the way for 45 minutes and I managed to reach Manila at 1430 hours Manila time.

Well the journey isnt over yet folks...Now I am at the international Airport, my 2 team members who were supposed to pick me up ( they said they will get garlands and San Miguel) were no where to be seen..anyhow I am looking for a taxi to take me to the Domestic Airport and this guy approaches me..

Him : Hello Sir..taxi
I : Yes Please to the Domestic Airport
Him : only 500 pesos
I : In my mind (Buzz off dude) No I am waiting for someone..

Then I search to see if I can find any place like the prepaid ones we have in india and i do manage to ind one...and I reach the Domestic Airport in 115 Pesos only!!

I have another flight to catch to Cebu which is scheduled at 1930 hrs!!! I beg at the Philipine Airline counter to please put me on the 1730 flight to Cebu and thankfully they oblige, so finally I do manage to reach Cebu :) tired to the bone but still happy to have reached the destination.

i freshen up and the mind said dude, go to sleep...but the subconcious said, this is your only night in cebu so make good use of it, as it is I had to go to office at 9 in the night...so off I go to the bar first, sip to double absolut citrons and chat up with a bartender who happens to be an attractive filipino whose name was "Chao"..I ask her tell me bout a good place where i can go and she recommends me "The Village" oh by this time I am tired of telling ppl that I am an Indian and not an Israeli as most of them thot I was but after that i resigned myself to the fate and if anyone said that was I an Israeli I smiled and said Yes :)

The Village incidentally is a group of restaurants , fairly cheap and they have some clubs and bars where they have lots of Live Bands which play some real cool Hip Hop...anyways the tired me reaches there and order for a coupla SanMiguels..I was probably the only foreigner in the entire bar and it was full of young blokes dancing away to glory when suddenly out of nowhere the DJ started playin "mundeya to back kay rahin" that funky Punjabi MC number and lo and behold, the punjabi blood in me took me there and i think i did the best bhangra of my life and i was surrounded by the filipinos who were clapping.

The singer of the band asked me, do u know this song and the 75% happy me said hell yes i know it,and they play the music and i am singing the song in my half drunken stupor, singing the most incorrect song in my life as i really did not know the lyrics but kinda just went with the flow and the filipinos were dancin the way to glory and this after being awake for close to 24 hours with the only sleep which i could catch on the Airplane!!

Great Beginning to the Trip, more updates to follow :)
