The Video piece was...dense and frankly intolerable. i find video art in general repellant, invested as it is with a smug sense of self-worth that allows its makers to create horrible, 19-minute montages of themselves making mooing noises and attempting to suck on their own tongues. (i'm not even kidding.) This opinion of mine prompted a fellow classmate to round on me and cry, "You just hate all progressive art!"
My reply was that Art, progressive or not, is something that enriches my life, rather than filling me with homicidal rage or inducing migraines.
What i should have said was that i came to art school, as an adult, having already practiced my craft for a good long time, (besides actually working for a fucking living, but that's another rant.) i came to school to learn new things and expand my horizons, not to blindly follow what my teachers, my peers, or the Art World in general happen to think is "hot" at the moment. Just because everyone tells you that Jackson Pollock is good and important, doesn't mean that it's true.
Fuck you, and fuck your conformity.

Meanwhile, in real life, Rob & i spent the weekend dozing, reading, and eating spicy foods, between bouts of filthy monkey love. Glory!
