I think I mentioned before that my family's holiday get-together was last Sunday and I immediately went from my grandma's house to enjoy a Bad Movie Night with some friends. We ended up watching the classic late '80s horror film,
Pumpkinhead and followed it up with 1985's
Phenomena (also known as Creepers in the U.S.), a Dario Argento film starring 14-year-old Jennifer Connelly(came out a year before Labyrinth) as a creepy girl with a psychic link to bugs and insects. Pumpkinhead was pretty bad, but entertaining to watch and mock with a group of friends, and so was Phenomena, but Phenomena was much more interesting.
Then tonight was the weekly October Movie Night with another group of friends and we watched the original
Dawn of the Dead from 1978. It was my first George Romero film and it was much lighter than I expected it to be. I mean it was grim and all, but with a fairly light tone and even a fair amount of humor. Good stuff.
Next film on the list:
1408. Click on any of the above movie title links if you'd like to see trailers. And now I must be going to bed. 'Night.
