...than truly trying not to do anything you know is wrong? I've been looking at myself from an outside point of view for years and trying not to do things I wouldn't appreciate from someone else. You know: no making up excuses to get out of something you don't want to do, no saying anything behind someone's back if it's not something you'd say to their face, no lying in general, right down to things like no spending money on things you know you don't need or no spending when you know you shouldn't, and always taking responsibility for your own conscious actions and decisions. There's more, but you get the idea. I've gotten better at it, but seriously don't think there's anything more difficult in the world. I guess it stems from "The Golden Rule": do unto others as you would have them do unto you. That's one version of it, anyway. I think a decent, simplified modern translation is don't be a douchebag. Simple enough, right? And, really, if we allow ourselves to think, we all know when we've been a douchebag. Anyway, I don't have much else to say at the moment and this is already quite a bit longer than I meant to ramble on.
I leave you with this video for a modern classic, a fallen superstar before his return to glory. Enjoy.

Oh and for anyone who cares, Elton John's 2001 release, Songs From The West Coast, is a fantastic album. It marked his departure from his constant balladeering and a very welcome return to something closer to his style in the '70s. Highly recommended.
