I'm with ya on the Aerosmith thoughts, sdb. I can understand the guys wanting to go on and keep making music, that's what musicians do. To call it Aerosmith, however, and put someone else in there to do the front man duties - I mean, Steven Tyler? Yeah, kind of a big component of their overall sound. So, replacing that huge chunk of sound is going to really change the identity.
It's totally their call, and maybe the A-VII will fly (pun intended), but it seems like a bit of a reach to keep using the name.
I am also not a fan of their more recent work, save a song here and there, but that doesn't really mean anything related to their quality. I guess the only thing I'm not a fan of is the fact that they just seemed to keep turning out ballad after ballad, but if that's the market, then I guess that's the market, or if that's what they wanted to do, then they're allowed to do it. It's not the sort of thing that's going to get me revved up, however. You know what is? Toys in the Attic, that's what! But then, they can't make a new album with an old album - they call those re-releases, don't they?
