Damn

As I was backing into a parking place Saturday night, I hear and feel a loud clunk coming from the undercarriage of the car. Rather unsettling. Then it happened again as I was coming to a stop at a red light on my way home. Sunday was going to be my only day to sleep in until next Sunday due to the extra hours and shifts I've been working, but I got up after four hours of sleep to call Firestone, the only auto service shop open on Sundays around here, as soon as they opened to ask if they could fit me in that day. Luckily they could. Unluckily, it turned out my inner and outer tie rods were about to fall off and it would be $476 and change to get my car drive-able. Luckily, thanks to all the overtime I've been working, I was able to pay for it out of pocket. Unluckily, that overtime was supposed to help me become completely debt free by June and now it's most likely going to be fall. Ugh. It feels good to actually be able to afford a surprise car repair for the first time in my life and I'm thankful I caught the problem with the car when I did rather than having a tie rod fall off on the highway and do engine damage on top of that, but I've SO been looking forward to getting out of debt after years and years and years of shitty money management. Oh well. Speaking of overtime, we're at our peak busy time of the year right now and it should start winding down by end of March/early April. I should be able to inch back toward normal hours again leading up to that time and that's when you can expect to start seeing me around again. In the meantime, I'm going to be home very, very little and I'll continue to be scarce.

car, work, life
