Got together with my friend, Mike, tonight and watched a couple old martial arts flicks. Old as in '80s and '90s, not old old.

First up was 1987's Armour Of God, starring Jackie Chan. I've seen a lot of Jackie Chan films, but I hadn't seen this before. It was pretty cheesy and the action/fighting scenes were a little too far apart in places, but it was still entertaining overall and it was one of the earlier films in the style of what he became big for here in The States in the mid to late '90s.

I was getting tired and didn't think I was going to be able to make it through a second film, but Mike insisted on watching Tai-Chi Master, starring Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh, from 1993. I'm so glad I decided to give it a go because I absolutely loved it and it and had no problem staying awake. It's not a serious film even though the trailer below might make you think otherwise (there are longer, Hong Kong trailers on YouTube that show more of its true colors), but it wasn't too cheesy either. Or maybe the action, entertainment value and cinematography made the cheesiness more tolerable. Anyway, there's a stupid/silly scene where Li's character is out of his mind that lasts longer than I would like, but other than that, it's all good. Recommended.

Oh and The Tigers were up on The Orioles 5 to 4 when I got home, but I turned on the TV just in time to see The Orioles go on a rampage and score five runs in one inning to make 5 to 9. Lame. I promptly turned it off and don't expect that they will have made a comeback, but I'll find out later.

Looking forward to tomorrow and the weekend in general -- it's supposed to hit 80 degrees here on Sunday (with storms, but I'll still take it)!
