ESC: the semifinal

Yes, I need to talk about it. Americans, who know not what I'm talking about, feel free to skip ;)

First of all, wow! I was really impressed with YLE and all they had done - newspapers had been full of doubts about their ability to do anything right, but I liked it lots.

I liked the hosts, Jaana and Mikko, and how they were so "natural" and clearly so enthusiastic (though in the end it was maybe going a bit over the top..) and how they spoke English and French so well. *g*

And the postcards! They were so funny and well-done! These were seriously my family's favourite thing! The only moment when we stopped chatting and really concentrated. Though once the commentators started talking during them they kind of lost the feeling and it was harder to follow the story of what was happening.

(I wonder why they weren't commenting from the beginning, was it technical problems or on purpose or something in our end - because now that I think of it we started hearing them once me and sister K moved to watch the rest from another television because the others went to bed. Hmm.)

And also the opening performance was very nice. *nods*

I also really liked Poland's song and so was disappointed when it didn't make it to the final :( *downloads* And mu51ng_drag0n complaining about their song being embarrassing was fun after I noticed that everyone here (like, newspapers and TV commentators etc.) say "definitely in the final". :D

But OMG YouTube fails me because it doesn't yet have any clips of the semifinal! *gasp* *tear*

What did you think?

ps. Is it Saturday yet?
