Your mom has an undiagnosed dementia. She does not remember what pills she takes, if she has taken them or not, or that she needs to take them. She lives alone in a tiny third floor walk up apartment. She has been in the hospital three times this year with an exacerbation of her primary disease process due to medication non-compliance. ; When we spoke yesterday, I told you that I was considering calling Adult Protective Services because your mom didn't even have her medications in her home, more than a week after her latest discharge from the hospital and has no way of obtaining them. Now, I don't think you neglected to obtain them deliberately. I think you didn't know and didn't ask, and she didn't tell you. I think you neglected to obtain them because you didn't check in on her after her hospitalization, didn't ask about her medications, and have not checked back to see if she was taking her meds this time around. The third time around at least this year with the same damn problems.
So no, I don't think it would be a good time to let her come back to that same tiny apartment. No, I can't visit her daily to make sure she takes her medications. No, I can't call her daily to make sure she takes her medicaitons. I think she needs to go to an assisted living facility. OR come home with you. Her son.
