chicago

So my brother and I arrived in chicago yesterday evening to visit my grandmother who's passing any day now. It feels good to be back here...a little strange but good.
Lasts night there was a huge storm in the Chicagoland area...a lot of people lost power, but we just got drenched running to our cars. A lot of beautiful lightning too :)

I've been peeking through some of my grandma's (Poo poo) things, seeing a lot of family pictures I've never seen, a lot of crap in the basement...she's a pack rat. Her garden in the back I guess used to be very organized and full of plants, but since she had her heart attack last year it's become a mess of melon vines. The actual reason we're down here is because she had a stroke, and does not want to be on any type of assistance. She remembered me, even though I haven't seen her in about 10 years. She told my brother that he should become a firefighter in Chicago :), But mostly she just keeps muttering funeral plans in Chinese to my father and uncle. She wants to make sure they don't do it on an unlucky day or a day where people are too busy...like sunday :)

It's sad that every time I see my dad's family, it's usually because someone's ill or dying, but she's lived a long life (92 or 95 we think she lied on her immigration papers :) and she has family to support her.
