Things that make you go "hmmm"

A small touch of irony in the health insurance discussion. So, a Texan Republican says "The massive health care plans being crafted behind closed doors in Washington will ultimately allow the government to decide what doctors we can see, what treatments the government thinks you deserve and what medicines you can receive."

And, of course, the insurance companies don't make those decisions for us every single day based on what's most profitable for them. No, of course not. They wouldn't dream of it. They're only in this to help people, remember?

Maybe before the Republicans continue being holier than thou about health care reform, they should look at what they're trying to *keep* in power. And I don't mean from their pocketbooks. Let's put them on their state-based low-income health care plan and give them a budget of, say, 2K a year that they can spend on health care and medication. Just like your normal, average, dare I say it "Joe Six-Pack" out there. And by budget, I mean "cannot spend more than $2,000 a year total on personal and family health care."

I wonder how fast they'd be clamoring for reform by the end of next year, I really do.
