"DAMN IT!!!!!!"
A show about terrorism, slated to start in the Fall of 2001? Great timing. Starring the ugliest member of the 1980s brat pack kind of guys? Why the heck would anyone want to see that.
So I didn't. My sister keeps raving about this show and I'm very unimpressed. The first season passes. I hear great critical acclaim, and just to say I gave it a shot, I watch the first episode of season two. First off, googly-eyes unattractive 20-year-old Lost Boy vampire has grown very well, VERY WELL, into his looks, secondly, the show is AMAZING. So much so that I rent the entire first season and watch it in one week.
Jack Bauer is the single most badass awesome character EVAH!
The love affair was cemented. The characters were rich and complex (with the exception of Kim, who I HATE with the intensity only matched by my hatred of Dawn when they plopped her into BTVS). Anyhoo. In season three a quirky little computer gal comes on board, and we think she may be the mole this year. Alas, she is not, she is Chloe O'Brien, who will become Jack's greatest ally and the only other person besides Jack to stay alive the whole time.\
The show is the most intense ride for the solid hour I have ever seen on TV, the consistency of the tension is so high that I always feel that I need a rest after watching! Jack is a hero and an anti-hero, doing what he feels is right (which it almost always is right or needed to save the freaking country *lol*) even when everyone is against him.
Nine years doesn't seem anywhere near long enough with Jack, but I'm glad I had the time with the show. I feel that Jack Bauer is the greatest single character on TV in years.
Farewell Jack, I hope the next 24 hours gives you time to sleep, eat and go to the bathroom, all things they never let you do on the show.
(And please PLEASE PLEASE, give me an ending that my brain can wrap around without bursting into flames. After last night, I NEED IT!!!)
