Anakin hadn't slept in a couple of days.

Not that this was so terribly unusual for him since coming back from his galaxy, but today the shadows under his eyes were particularly noticeable.

He was flipping absently through a magazine that was six months old and fighting to stay awake.

The door was open.

"Not at all," Anakin said. "Pull up a chair. How are your father and Zoe?"

Dean smiled briefly. "They're okay. Dad I think is still a little freaked -- hell so am I -- but neither of them or the baby were really hurt."

"Has anyone figured out what happened?" Anakin asked, concerned. "Fires don't just start normally."

"Sammy and I went over the area with EMP meters but there wasn't a peep," Dean said. "Which is kinda a relief I guess since it means it's not the demon coming back after us. But we still don't know what caused it."

Anakin chewed on his lip. "Gremlins know better than to play with stoves, right?"

"I hope so. Besides they might show up on the EMP -- I haven't actually had a chance to try it on them." He cocked his head and looked at Anakin. "Are you okay? Frankly you look like ten miles of bad road."

Anakin ran a hand through his hair and sighed. "I didn't get a lot of sleep this week," he admitted. "It'll get better."

He didn't know that, at all, but he didn't want to worry Dean.

"Bad dreams?" Dean asked knowingly. He'd been there, done that recently and thought he could recognise the signs.

Anakin nodded. "Lots of memories," he said finally. "Most of them aren't pleasant."

"Exactly," Anakin said, his eyes looking as old as he really was. "I've seen too much to get a lot of sleep these days."

He shrugged it off. "Are you ready for another lesson?"

"Sure, if you're up to it. We can always put it off, if you're not," Dean said, fully willing to postpone.
