It was a beautiful spring night, with a cool breeze fluttering against the flowers and stirring the lights and baby blue gauze around the gazebo at the center of the square

Of course Rory had a little stack of index cards. She's Rory.
"I never thought," she started, quietly, glancing down at her cards before looking back up at Anakin, "that I'd be the type to tie the knot so early on. I always thought I'd have other stuff to do, or places to go. I thought that getting married young was a bad idea, because how could you know if it was the right person when you're not old enough to even rent a car or drink legally?"
She smiled a little, and resisted the urge to look at her grandparents, since they probably knew that was aimed at them.
"But I've never been more sure about anything. It's not a question of who, it's a question of when, and it's being answered today. It's always been you, Anakin." She swallowed, flipping her cards for a moment. "I never thought I'd be lucky enough to have you back in my life, or that I'd be lucky enough to get to marry my best friend."
She took a deep breath. "I love you, Anakin. You're the strongest person I know. You're funnier than you think, and you're not afraid to be a dork. You're caring. You let me see more of you than anyone. You've never asked me to change anything, but throughout the course of knowing you, I've left behind the girl I was and become the woman I am, and with you, I'm never afraid of what the future holds. I love that you know me, inside and out. And I never want that to stop. And so, Anakin, today I choose you as my husband, and I promise to love you, and care for you, and be faithful, from this day forward and the rest of our lives."
Rory's voice was shaking by the end, but she hadn't had to look back down at her cards.

"I didn't want to wait," he whispered as he pulled back.
He took a moment to compose himself again, his eyes never leaving her face. "I was taught by a very wise man that even stars burn out, that nothing is permanent. He was wrong. What we have lasted through years of separation, a galaxy of distance, and more heartache than I should have ever put you through."
He swallowed hard. "You teach me about faith. You remind me that there is hope. You make me a better person because I want to live up to how you see me. I loved you when I was seventeen, I love you now, and I'll love you fifty, seventy, and a hundred years from now. You're the half of me I didn't know I was missing until I found you again."
His voice went a little unsteady, but his eyes showed no uncertainty. "So I choose you, Lorelai Leigh, to be my wife. I am yours from this day forward, through good and bad, through sickness and health, through laughter and tears. I will love and cherish you all the days of our lives."
And I will let you go when I have to, he murmured where only she could hear him.

At the moment, he didn't care. Eyes shining with unshed tears, he leaned in to give her a very soft kiss.
