The room is filled with faceless people, backs turned to your view. You can still make out that they are laughing, smiling, happy, and having a good time. There is someone in a long, hooded cloak walking around and through the groups. He has a bunch of cue cards in his hands, shuffling through them

[Carl, it so happens, has figured out that he is dreaming, and has since lost his own dream in the crowd of other dreams going on around the City. He might be lucid, but the mechanics of this curse--because it's certainly a curse--are still baffling him. And darn it, he can't find his nice, quiet dream again.]
This is your dream, is it? It doesn't seem terribly cheery.
[ooc: And sleeping! Sorry about that...]

A dream? [another pause, more considering this time] Cheery? No, I guess not.
[OoC: No! How dare you sleep! *hug* Night~!]

[Carl stoops to help gather up--and, okay, take a peek at--the cue cards.]
Yes, a dream. Some curse or another... very odd. What's going on, then? A nightmare involving some kind of public-speaking anxiety?
[ooc: I'm so nervy! *hugs* ♥ ]

Although, unlike the other times, this time the cue cards actually allow themselves to be picked up and gathered again.] A curse, huh? That figures.
Public speaking? What? No. It's [a small pause, if this weren't a dream he probably would be more careful about this] research.

[Carl peruses a few of the cards before handing them back to Demyx.] Research? On what?

On- On hearts.

...Hearts? I see.

Yeah. [Wait. There was a hesitation there, and normally he'd just let it go, but for some reason in the dream . . . ] Do you really?

[Carl doesn't hesitate at all.] No, I don't. You've said you're heartless on numerous occasions, so, in a sense, it's perfectly understandable that you would be bent on researching them. What I don't fully understand is the concept of heartlessness as it applies to you.

Well, I'm a Nobody. I know I'm a Nobody, I'm in Organization XIII, which is made up of more Nobodies like me trying to get their hearts back. A lot of the higher-ups have always said that why we're special Nobodies is because we remember what it was like, having emotions. That's why we can act like regular people when we want to. [Is he going to regret this in the morning? Who knows, but he sure as heck ain't stopping talking anytime soon.]
But I never really believed that all the way. I'm not gonna say that it's not different, because I don't think it's the same as it was before I got turned. Even so, I don't think what they say is completely true. It can't be, because it just can't all be an act. So I always acted different than everyone else. Not like I wasn't different anyway, I don't even like to fight. But I think that that's just more proof that we do have hearts. Just, you know, maybe not a complete one.
And that's what I'm trying to accomplish here. In the City.

...Ah. Well. I could try to help, you know.

Really? You'd help? I mean, not like I'm even sure how you could help, but still.

Of course, and don't underestimate the possibility of a favourable outcome! Where there's a desire to find an answer, there's almost always a way to locate it.

Yeah, you think so? [Hesitant sounding, but then a grin] Alright. Yeah! Sure, that sounds great.
