I kept expecting my "oh, my God, I fucking love these NORD kids" feeling to go away as I stopped being overly emotional, but it hasn't yet. I brought my Everything Book and told them to write stuff in it. Sarah took all of rehearsal to write her note, and Michael took it home tonight. I'm gonna miss them so much.
So. Jefferson had warned us that the Wicked section was getting sliced. But it actually turned out to be a relatively good thing for me,
miss_moppet, and the other "Wizard and I" girls. Instead of just singing the beginning section of the song, we now go from "and that's how we'll begin, the wizard and I" directly to the end: "and I'll still live with the Wizard, etc, etc." We had asked Jeff to consider changing it, because the "Popular" and "Defying Gravity" girls got to sing the best parts of their song, and we didn't. So, I raced out into the hallway with Laura, Sarah, and Courtney to jump around and celebrate.
The "Popular" girls weren't really upset by their cuts. They get to do a cute little number where they try to prettify the "Wizard and I" girls. I'm with
schizophrenic0. It's hilarious.
"Dancing Through Life." We're ending it near the beginning, and Michael is crushed, because he doesn't get to do his "you'll be happy to be there, dancing through liiiiiiife," which is his favorite part in the entire show. We formed a group hug session to comfort him. On the upside, the dance is very pretty.
"Defying Gravity." The number was cut severely, and the former soloists barely have any of the song to themselves any more. The entire chorus comes in at the end, and everyone sings the good parts. Jannae burst into hysterical tears when she found out, and her mother actually had to come take her home. I can understand why she's so upset, though. "Defying Gravity" was the one song she wanted more than anything else, and she was so excited when she got to sing it. Then, to just lose that... I understand.
Jefferson was going over Dwayne's part with him in "Suddenly Seymour" and I was quietly singing my part in the background when Michael came up and hugged me and started singing the Seymour part just as quietly. That made me sadder than I thought it would. Come on, they told the poor boy that he had the song, then snatched it away from him. And, don't get me wrong, I love Dwayne, but I would have really liked to sing a song with Michael.
What other random little tidbits happened? Ah, yes. Godzilla!Josh.
The Cast: *faces upstage at the beginning of "One Short Day"*
Josh: *stares at the buildings* These buildings remind me of Godzilla.
Me: ... why?
Josh: *stalks up and down the back platform making Godzilla noises and waving his arms*
Must get a video of that tomorrow to add to the Ostrich!Josh video.
Querido and Michael stole half my bottle of peach Propel today. The fact that I gave it to them willingly is totally beside the point.
While choreographing the actual dance section of "Dancing Through Life," us non-dancers loitered in the lobby with craptastic granola protein breakfast bars, compliments of Karen Hebert, and babbled about American Idol and the Tony Awards.
Sarah burned me a copy of The Wild Party.
Something else happened that was funny, but I can't remember what it was. Damn my senility.
Oh, well. It's late, I'm tired, and I have to pee. So I'll go do that.
NORD kids are love.
