(no subject)

So for the 24th the day us Finns celebrate Christmas, Steve and I went had had dinner at my parent's place. My sister Anne-Marie had flown in from Texas and there was much merriment and wine. I was unable to bake all the cookie dough in my freezer. I got cookied out.

Christmas Day Steve and I went to his parents as that's when they do Christmas- in the morning and we had a very tasty breakfast, opened presents and then we went home. As Steve had reinjured his knees by going to the gym too soon before letting them heal, he decided the 5 hour drive to my aunt and uncle's farm in Canada was not a good idea.

The drive with my mom and sister was just fine, nice and sunny weather. I was happy in the back seat reading magazines. As soon as we got to my aunt and uncle's, my uncle asks how my relationship with God was. My response was pretty much the same as last year. Which hopefully he understood as don't bring up the subject I don't want to talk about it. So I spent the rest of Thurs - Saturday morning avoiding being alone with him so he wouldn't bring it up. Last year he asked me to go skiing with him and he tried to engage me in a conversation. So not cool. So as much as I like cross country skiing, I didn't partake. Oh well. I read the 6th Harry Potter book a co-worker had lent me. Also my mom got on my nerves, saying I must clearly have all this money since I'm going to hire someone to redo our upstairs bathroom instead of fixing it ourselves. *Shakeyfists*

Friday night/Saturday morning there was a thunderstorm which was nice. I always enjoy it, but I was feeling a bit paranoid as I had been having a mini-Harry Potter nightmare so I kind of woke up and laid real still until I remembered I was in my aunt and uncle's basement.

Saturday was beautiful! Rain, warm wind and fog- my absolute favorite kind of weather! When I got home from Canada, me and Steve went for a super long walk around the neighborhood. I was so happy.

Unfortunately, Sunday I woke up with a beast of a cold and a sore throat. I blame my cousin's 4 year old son, he's adorable, but a germ factory.

So Steve ended up getting a bonus from work so when I got home there was a new large LCD TV in our living room. We were watching National Geographic's Planet Earth, and damn Crocodiles have never looked so huge! Watching the weather this morning, Michigan never looked so huge! Ridiculous!

Today was my birthday and Steve and I went to this newish Spanish restaurant in Canton, Tosca de Playa or something like that. The Paella, not nearly as good as the stuff my sister and I had in Barcelona, but oh well. The Tapas were delicious. Perhaps we'll try some more of those next time we go there. They have flamaco dancing there on Fridays and Saturdays. I remember the first time I saw Flamenco dancing, it was Manolete performing at Sangaria's in Royal Oak. There were wenches and it was a good time. So yes. After dinner Steve and I came home, ate some ice cream and watched Much Ado About Nothing. Yeay me!
