I hope everyone enjoyed/is enjoying their holiday festivities!
Welp, it's time for the end of year art summary post. Here we go!
Starting with fic! And... only two completed fics this year. Geeze. I do have a handful of partially finished stuff though.
Personable Nature (Hound/Beachcomber, getting it on outside. Kink meme fill. R)
You Left Me in the Dark (Sunstreaker/Tracks, Sideswipe cameo. War changes everyone. PG-13)
Now the art! Using the DeviantArt meme again, showing the best work from each month of the year.
Blank Last Year
Did not get a lot done this year; there were a few months I had to search for something to fill in the box with! Real life had several major happenings, which kinda stifled the time and mental energy for creativity. Struggled a lot with the digital art this year: if it wasn't the posing it was the colors; if it wasn't the colors it was the shading. I am still really happy with that one of Arcee and Blackarachnia; think it turned out to be one of the best ones of the year. Did several traditional paintings, and I think in that area this year has been the best I've had since graduating. Found a new direction to take with the painting process that I'm still trying out but so far has had good results.
Goals from last year:
Start doing traditional media painting again. Yup!
Do more with perspective and different viewing angles. Uh, not really. I did, however, keep going with the more complex poses.
Get back to drawing non-fandom stuff in between all the Transformers. Yes, a bit, though I haven't posted much of it aside from the paintings.
Start experimenting with color again. Kinda did this with the paintings, not so much the digital stuff which was the intent.
Carry forward what I had started to work on last year. (Backgrounds, poses.) Poses yes, backgrounds no.
Next year. Hoo-boy, next year. Keep working on the traditional paintings. Do more finished digital art with humans and with my original world characters; my current style suits Transformers but I struggle with it with humans. Work with more dynamic posing and angles. Work on expressions, dangit, the characters I draw always look so mellow all the time. Get in some practice in drawing realistic art from RL models, even if that model is me. I think not doing that is part of why my character art is stagnating.
P.S. to LJ peeps: there is now a mirror of this comm on Dreamwidth, here:
sisters_stash. I plan to continue using both sites until either all my friends move from one place to the other or crossposting just becomes too much. But for the foreseeable future I'll post the same things in both places, so you don't have to worry about missing anything if you don't watch both.
