Hand-bound journals

The first of three journals I'm making for friends for Christmas. (I'm trying to get most Christmas stuff out of the way early this year, can you tell?) The two beaded tails can serve as bookmarks.

While we're on the subject, hey lookie here, more journals.

The ones in the middle left were made with stab bindings, the two cloth-covered journals are done with longstitch, the one on the upper left is millenium binding, and the last two are done with coptic stitch. All but the stab binding lay flat when open.

The blue and orange one on the lower right was supposed to be a Sentinel Prime themed journal, but I'm not too happy with how it turned out. Am thinking of finding a better ribbon - you can't really see it, but the one on this one didn't go on very well - and then re-binding it with a thicker thread that looks like it's supposed to be visible and not like I made a mistake. Have got plans to make an Optimus journal to go with it.

And the one on the upper left isn't quite finished - the cover is incomplete - but it's the only one of that binding style that I've currently got and I'm rather proud of it. :P It's one of the more complicated bindings and is actually a style that they still use on machine-made hardcover books.
