You Probably Know About This Already, but...

Behind The Sofa

Click on that link above ^^ yeah, the title to this post.

I'm not sure what fan obsession I was searching for when I ran across this blog, but it was completely new to me (I've been a bit too occupied this last year to look up stuff on my favorite show).  It's not new by any means, it dates back to at least 2005, though possibly earlier.  But, I've never seen it before and am so thrilled at the site that I had to share.  It's also one of the new links on my sidebar, I love it that much.

Needless to say, it's gone and distracted me a bit from my next post - which with any luck will be completed tonight.  Good thing too, as my next review (though not my next post) will be "Genesis of the Daleks", and this has provided some fresher perspectives from the first New Series season, which I've not watched in quite a long time.  I know, bad fan-girl, but my DVDs have been in storage for a whole year....

Curious, I started by reading some of the reviews of the Classic Series.  Yay!  Classic Series TV Serial Reviews and break-downs!  My little fan-fanatic heart just leaped for joy.  ^_^

Of course, the section I was reading was done in prep for the first airing of the New Series in the UK, and the palpable sense of excitement, joy and worry was infectious.  It reminded me anew of my own rush of joy and amazement at the new series when it aired here, and I then just couldn't help myself and simply had to read the reviews of the First Series Eps, written as they aired.

Fantastic!

More, it renewed my own love of Rose and the 9th Doctor, all over again.  It's a bit easy to be jaded by the series now, not so new anymore is it?  The wonder and grumbles, highs and lows...  the secret reveal of the plot-arc and the theories on it (probably the only secret the Beeb was able to successfully keep throughout the series).  I just wish I'd known about the blog sooner.  Back then I'd followed the recaps on TWoP, but it's not really the same thing, and as the reviewer was not a Classic Who fan it also was not in the same caliber.

There's also reviews of "The Sarah Jane Adventures" and "Torchwood", all of the seasons.  Some of the 8th Doctor Audios and Books, (a bit intimidating that - when I do get to those, I'll be hopelessly outclassed.  These reviewers are amazing, particularly Neil Perryman - and one of the reasons I started this Blog was because I never could find good reviews of the books and audios online, only synopses... only now do I find this!) and more!

So aptly named, too.  I still watch the scarier episodes of New Series Who from behind a pillow or teddy bear, and have fond memories of watching Tom Baker's Doctor (my Doctor) very much from behind my Parent's Sofa (OK, the Coffee Table then.  Their sofas were all up against walls. I often made forts with the cushions and hid behind those with the coffee table as a barrier wall X] ).

Needless to say, now I'm just going to have to watch the First Series all over again.  I can't wait!  In fact, I think a weekend-long marathon may be called for.  =D  Too bad Labor Day just passed, I may not make it through all four Series in one weekend.  Ah, heck with it, who needs sleep?

I don't think I've been this excited to see it since it first aired.  I can just hear the opening credits now...

shills, must reads, about my journal, general
