Very random semi-WW, semi-Wesleyan thought

Apr 26, 2006 02:31

I was thinking about Thuy's Poli Sci paper earlier--the one that's due at 5 PM tomorrow. (WORK, THUY.) The subject was the nuclear deal between India and the US and its impact on, among other things, the Nonproliferation Treaty. While I was at Wesleyan with her, I was trying to think of everything I knew about the NPT and India, which kinda led me to the NPT, India and Pakistan. (West Wing people, you know what I thought at that point? 'Gerald!'. Sigh.) When I left, I got to thinking about the school and how much I loved it there and how much I miss it. Then, this popped into my head.

Sam (when talking to Ainsley): You're going back to Smith College, the cradle of feminism, to argue in opposition of
the Equal Rights Amendment?

And I laughed. Because to me? Wesleyan, the first college in the world chartered to grant degrees to women, is more the 'cradle of feminism' than Smith. Keep in mind two things: 1. This is just my opinion and no offense is intended toward anyone who went to Smith or likes it in any way and 2. Ainsley was too conservative for Wesleyan anyway. She wouldn't last 2 minutes.

I'm so glad I went to a women's college.
