So my last post was kind of angry and I wrote it in a flurry of caffeinated rage. Basically before yesterday I hadnt updated for a while and wasnt really commenting on my flist's entries for the most part. The reason is I am very busy lately with school, with getting my life together because I'm getting older, my parents are getting more burdened with expenses from my siblings and I basically need to start focusing on getting my shit together and being independent already. The only reason I havent announced a hiatus is because I do like to update my lj and respond to friend's entries whenever I feel like it. So I'll pop in now and then to say hi to people or talk about shit in my lj, but otherwise I just wont be as active online for awhile.
Anyway moving on..
I changed my layout a little while ago, it is now very pink with some black. I tend to alternate between black and pink alot with my layout coloring choices. Methinks after this one it's time to change things up. Maybe dabble in purples and yellows for a while.
TV
Leverage 209 - a bit anticlimactic for a mid season break, but it's understandable considering it wasnt originally planned for that. That being said I enjoyed it alot and I love how Tara was introduced to the team. I'm gonna miss Sophie the elegant European grifter but Tara the tough American grifter seems pretty cool too. I think the best part of the episode was Nate's HORRIBLE suits. God they were so ridiculous I loved each and every one of them. I loved Nate's character's last name "poppadockalas"? I wish he'd play that character every episode. I cant decide who I like more nate's sleazy lawyer persona or his go as a quirky german headmaster of a private school. both of those were GOLD. *sigh* no Leverage till January :(
Psych 4x05 - I am so glad this show is back! That week it skipped due to it being labor day weekend just about killed me. I need a steady dose of Psych in my life or I start to go into horrible withdrawal, I get a rash and everything people srsly. This was a great episode, I loved the beginning the most though. I really love how psych is balancing the humor and the drama lately, I mean it's definitely let itself get more intense with the cases in the later seasons but I still enjoy the show so much. It's just alot of fun no matter what. I felt the first episodes of the season were weak but everything since then has been great. and I CANT WAIT for the bollywood episode! I just know it's going to be awesome. and unlike the telenovela episode (which I loved anyway) I will actually get most of the jokes and references. Since my parents love bollywood and I've seen more than my share of bollywood films (ok about 3...and a 1/2. but believe me, it is enough)
True Blood S2 Finale This was very much not what I was expecting. and by that I mean. Deeply anti climactic. Alan Ball said this finale would be very satisfying. YOU LIED TO ME BALL! Don’t think I will forget this!
Having Sam be the one to kill Mary Ann after she harassed him all season definitely had it's poetic justice but the fact that her final death scene was orchestrated between Sam and Bill and took less than 3 minutes to execute was just beyond irritating. Sookie effectively did NOTHING but scream the whole time. It was HER house, and she barely got to do anything. and what about Tara! Wasnt Tara the one who supposedly CALLED Mary Ann forth? But Tara had nothing to do with anything at the end. Since Tara called her, shouldnt Tara have had SOMEthing to do with Mary Ann's death or destruction? I mean Sookie at least go to tear down that ugly statue on her yard but wtf did Tara do except stay under Mary Ann's thrall for the past few episodes. She didn’t even have to take responsibility for calling forth a crazy maenad! Can I get a WTF? But that's not even the part that bugged me the most. No the larger issue was, Mary Ann has been an ominous presence since the end of S1 and all throughout this season, she kept talking about a God Who Comes and after ALL that build up. Her storyline is wrapped up in under twenty minutes, with absolutely no real repercussions from her actions on the show? SERIOUSLY? I mean the whole time I kept watching and thinking "thats....it? that's it? THAT'S IT?" It just felt like such a waste. I kept waiting for there to be a hint even the barest of a hint of SOMETHING being awoken, even briefly from Mary Ann's occult ceremony. But instead it was just "is there no God?" from Mary Ann and I'm just like OF COURSE. We can except the existence of vampires, faeries and werewolves on this show but not the divine. I mean seriously this is a show where the Supernatural is ever present and yet they cant even entertain the notion that Gods or Deities exist? I mean obviously he wasnt going to show up cause the whole point is that Mary Ann doesn’t have the power she thinks she has but they still should have let SOMETHING otherwordly happen from Mary Ann's ceremony. She was building up to this for so many episodes and we the viewers sat through hours of her antics and it just all came to NOTHING. I was expecting some seriously EPIC shit! and I hate how Mary Ann's entire existence was basically made into "just a crazy girl" and her faith in a divinity is what turned out ot be her undoing. How fucked up is that? Even though Mary Ann did have some wise and important things to say between all her crazy shenanigans and DID improve Tara's life for a while. I…just the whole thing was somehow deeply offensive to me and I'm even sure how to explain why. Let’s just move on.
After everything that took place, this whole show seemed to undergo some kind of reset. I mean Tara is back to being miserable, Jason is back to being stupid and useless, Jessica is back to being a hell child of the night, bill and sookie are back to being lovey dovey, and bon temps is back exactly to the way it was. Now there were some interesting developments yes. Hoyt finally realizing what a horrid shrew his mother is, Sam is going to look for his birth family and hopefully there will be some serious repercussions from Egg's death. Since Jason killed him and if Tara finds out his and Sookie's role in Egg's death I'm sure there will be hell to pay. Still Egg's death was also something most of us saw coming from day 1 so his death was hardly shocking, the fact that Jason killed him and Sookie drove him mad was a little more surprising but will ultimately not be worth a damn if this doesnt cause a rift between Tara and the Stackhouses. Also where the hell did Tara's mom go? She just disappeared!
Honestly I hate being so negative about a show I love watching and I rarely bitch like this but after enjoying the past few episodes so much, having to wait an extra week to see this and feeling excited wondering what was Mary Ann's purpose in the end....I got this. and really by itself it's not a bad episode. But as a season ender? WEAK. So weak. and they could have easily given the end of Mary Ann more time and more depth, and focused less time on the revival of bon temps, it was nice to see everyone getting it together again but it didnt need to be that LONG. I was very bored for a big chunk of the episode and I'm rarely bored watching this and I SHOULDN’T be bored during a season FINALE!
All bitching aside there were some things I enjoyed about the episode. Like Lafeyette in the maiden's gown, the scene with Eric and the Queen, Lafeyette’s adorable little clap before the opening credits, and Sam finally getting some respect for at least 2.5 seconds. Looking forward to his story next season btw, I hope this means we get more shapeshifters next season. Sadly as far as what I loved that's all I can really think of. The cliffhanger for this season was also rather weak I should say, I mean obviously bill wont die and I know I should be thinking "OH NOES what happened to him!? Who took him?!" but I just could not give less of a shit. And I don’t care if it’s Eric or Lorena either. Oh well, hopefully next season will be better. I'm still gonna watch and hope that I wont be so disappointed next time. I really hope Tara gets to do something next season cause this time bitch got ROBBED.
Jane Eyre 2006 - started this and havent seen the final ep yet but I am struck by the liberties BBC took with the plot on this one. Usually BBC is all about being faithful to the source material. I imagine it's because they did a Jane Eyre adaptation 20 years prior and decided that this time they could just go crazy with it. That being said I cant blame them for trying to make Rochester seem like less of a douchebag. Because OMG he was so unpleasant in the book and to cap it off UGLY. I keep thinking the only reason Jane got with him was cause she was too low on herself to think she could ever do better. Plus he had money, after starving most of your life you'd probably marry any schmuck with a fancy coin purse. I think the best part is when they show Rochester's wife and she turns about to be this beautiful but insane spanish woman and she starts shrieking at Jane when she sees her "PUTA, PUTAAAA" omg I cracked up SO HARD. This is totally the crack version of Jane Eyre. Also WTF Rochester, he is ridiculously good looking and kept going on about how he is so ugly and no one can love him even though there was a gorgeous blond trying to marry him for the first 3 episodes so wtf is he on about? (he insists it's cause of his money which...ok valid) but srsly I think I yelled at my screen once "OMG STOP BEING A FUCKING GIRL AND SUCK IT UP" so ridiculous. But this is why I would never be the heroine of a romance novel or a Gothic horror novel. Cause I'd tell the Hero to STFU everytime he whined and I would NOT follow the creepy laughter in the dark ominous hallway. OMG WHY DO THAT? WHAT GOOD CAN COME OF IT?
I will end this post by saying NEW GOSSIP GIRL TONIGHT! GLEEEE~
