I wouldnt call her a favorite author or even a very good author (though not a bad one either) But she is undoubtedly a guilty pleasure of mine. Oh I saw that haruki book at the bookstore yesterday! I really should get around to his novels but I'm distracted by the wonderful candy that is romance novels. Oh Atonement, they made a movie about that. I saw the movie and it was sad and doomed lovers kind of thing. So I didnt feel inclined to check out the book but tell me if its any good yeah?

LOL apologizing to the books in korean and japanese, why not go all the way and do it in mandarin too? ;)

I've only read one Anne Stuart - "Devil's Waltz" and I liked it despite it being nothing new in terms of plot or characterization. But... like, she did it better than anyone else and I find her writing style very easy to read and pleasing. I should try the Ice series, people are always talking about how they're good reads.

Devil's waltz didnt appeal to me cause the plot was just so typical and conventional. I'm sure her bad boy hero was alot more bad and thus more interesting than the typical rake hero but I was just so over that whole trope. I also dont think her Ice series is particularly good. Ice Storm was good and Ice Blue and Fire and Ice do have that rare thing in the romance genre: a non white hero, in these cases both heroes are asian (japanese to be exact) and generally good guys. Much less ambiguous than some of Stuart's other heroes who are down right creepy. The first two ice books are totally typical cliche ridden fair. The suspense plots are rather frail and the plotting is flimsy and uneven at best. The romance aspect in both cases is very mediocre. The latter 3 books "Ice Blue, Ice Storm, Fire and Ice" have some of the same problems but they dont suffer as much however, because they have the added benefit of novelty. For instance Ice Blue has a very unintentionally hilarious scene that involves ambush via ninjas at a noodle restaurant. ( ... )

I willingly (but in a masochistic kind of way) read novels where the heroine's virginity heals broken legs and turns Unicorns back into men. Noodle-shop ninja ambush is just par the course for me, really.

LOL oh yes I remember that entry of yours about the unicorn hero. I will never stop finding that hilarious. Man the shit that gets published. Well if I run into any other crazy novels I'll give you a heads up although if you enjoy some craziness I'd rec Jenny Crusie to you, her humorous crazy situations are actually intentional for one. and for two she has great dialogue and quirky characters. plus hot sex. you cant go wrong! I should talk about her books in my next entry.
