It's 9:30 a.m. I'm sitting in a Dunn Bros. on the edge of downtown Minneapolis waiting for a phone call from a kindred spirit who would like to breakfast with me. God help me, I'm about to start reading a copy of Stephen King's "It" that appears to have gone through the wash, and although it scared the hell out of me when I was 11, I'm not sure it will have the same effect at 30.
Melodrama abounds, as I might be laid off soon. Luckily for me, my friend and supervisor, Bee, has been inflating my talents all over the hospital, so that I'm becoming a hyped-up guru of Web technology and editorial mastery. In addition, Thursday she said "love and compassion are the most powerful forces in the universe." How can I not love Bee? How can I not get her a present?
Yesterday I wore a blue flowered dress and black heels to a meeting with the tiny elf who holds my livelihood in her hands. Can elves and yetis be friends? Can I swim the slick corporate ecosystem that hospital communications is becoming? Should I go back to the co-op world? Drama!
Seriously, if anyone has hiring power and is looking for a good writer/editor/Web wizard, message me please.
