I finally figured out how my characters get powers. At least one of them for sure, the other i know happens pre-natal and thats all ive decided. BUT the first guy, well, its kind of impossible to do anything original when it comes to comic stuff, so apologies:
Picture a group of protestors outside a research facility, and one man inside, fiendishly rushing to save his research. He rounds the materials into a capsule, all the while muttering about it being safe hidden on a nearby moon. As the research breaks into space, he gets a message saying that his formula for better stronger marines is unethical and must be destroyed. And, so yeah, obviously this somehow ends up on earth, and the serum bottle shatteres in the characters hand, causing it to seep in. Unoriginal but fun. Hopefully.
