"Don't lose your shit!"

Alrighty! So here’s my week in a condensed blog-form.

Thursday 11/19: Got out of my final chemistry lab and went home to get ready for the New Moon Premiere. Yay! It was raining golf balls my whole drive to Star Grill Cinema. Kasey and I met up so I could give her the ticket that I’d gotten for her a few days prior. When we got in the doors and past the police officers patrolling them, we squeezed through the Twilight viewers line which happened to be filled with “Team Edward” and “Team Jacob” buttons and T-shirts and loooots of eyeliner. We joined an equally massive line for the ladies room since Kasey has a bladder the size of a nickel. The nice thing about Star Grill Cinema, which I’d never actually been inside of before, was that its one of the theatres that serves you food and booze while you watch the movie. Yay for that! We texted Kim and the others to let them know that we’d arrived, and I convinced Kasey to join me at the bar for a Sex on the Beach since we had a two-hour count-down til movie time. Krystal came out to talk with us for a while and we were all laughing and enjoying the pre-movie fun. I told them about the guy I’d been out with a few times and the things I liked about him and didn’t like about him. They both reminded me to stay positive. When we’d finished our drinks we made our way into the theatre where Idalia had saved us some seats and I ordered our row some food. The movie was wonderful and I even got teary-eyed when Jacob said the three words I never want to hear from someone that sexy… lol. I could probably watch the On-off shirt ballet for about six hours with those werewolves. Can you guess I’m a team Jacob girl? The movie was almost enough to get me to read the second book even though I wasn’t much wowed by the first one.... I want to see it again!

Friday 11/20: I worked a closing shift after school and I was pretty damn tired since I only got like four hours of sleep, if that, after the movie. After work, I was supposed to go to Terry’s twenty-first birthday party but I let my anxiety get the best of me. Around 12:30 that night, I txted him to say that I hoped he wouldn’t hold it against me but I wasn’t going to come. I was much too tired. He replied that he was slightly bummed but that it was okay and he was looking forward to our next date. He even said he wanted to see me before then because it was several days away. Yay for that too!

Saturday 11/21: I slept in until right before I had to get ready for my closing shift in PetCare which is not my strongest department…. Work actually went pretty well closing with Sweet Ross and Derrick who likes to pick on me. However! There was a small gross incident. Usually, when people come in to buy feeder fish they sometimes order them by saying “two bucks worth” or “four dollars worth”. Two young girls who were obviously lesbian together came in to buy fish. The one with the buzzcut and tattoos asked for “about five bucks worth” of small feeders. I said okay, no problem and bagged her up about 45 fish in a large bag. They thanked me and left. About 10 min before closing, the two girls come back with the large bag full of 45 dead goldfish just floating around upside down and what not. I said “what happened?!” and she said, “I think it had something to do with the water”. I just looked at her thinking how can your other fish survive if goldfish can’t for a few hours?? I said, “your water is dechlorinated right?” and I got two stupid looks in reply. “You have to add water conditioner or dechlorinater. Otherwise the chemicals in the tap water are going to kill your fish. If your tank isn’t already set up, you need to run the system for at least 24 hrs before putting fish in.” I gave them a refund, even though I later found out that I wasn’t supposed to for feeders. I left a note on the board for the other associates so that they could keep an eye out and explain that they can’t fit 45 goldfish in a new tank without killing them all. I set the bag of deadies on the blue desk and as I began writing something on a post-it, the whole bag spills over all over the desk and floor! Dead fish and fish water all in the desk drawers, the bag drawers, and all over the floor. My manager, Sweet Ross, comes out and just looks at me like “wtf did you do” and I started laughing/crying. I spent the next ten minutes picking soft, slimy goldfish bodies out of two drawers and off the desk and floor… So gross.

Sunday 11/22: Ren Fair! I got Blair to cover my work shift so that I could go to my first Renaissance Fair. I woke up around 6:30 so that I could meet up with Michael at Kasey and Daniel’s house by 8. We stopped at McDonalds for a hearty breakfast, and Kroger for an ATM and potty break. Then, we started the two-hour drive to Magnolia. On the way, we briefly got lost in the outlands so Michael regaled us with stories of Skydiving. When we pulled into row 7 at RenFair parking, we all had to wait for Michael to put sunscreen on his face. He burned the crap out of himself at the airshow and insisted that he’d learned his lesson. On the way in, we were behind a boy in a metal-studded trenchcoat with a hood and a sword. My kinda guy!! I could have easily struck up a conversation with him. Everyone was teasing me “oh, go talk to him!” and he definitely knew we were talking about him cause he kept looking over his shoulder like “I can hear you..” lol. Its whatever! Once inside the gates I was at home!! Ren fair is pretty much my dream: Medieval clothes, people shouting grotesque innuendo across the square, shirtless men in kilts.... I bought a gold circlet with lavender and tangerine ribbons in it, an ear cuff, some overpriced drinks, and a queen sized bag of kettle corn. Daniel bought a bayonet. All four of us did some archery, I was the only one that didn’t make it to the target lol. We went for a walk in the magical garden and Michael and I had a moment of understanding. His ex had been there last weekend with her new boyfriend and I understood the look on his face perfectly. He looked like I felt.
I had a delicious apple dumpling covered in honey, and a bee came up to feast on it… I let him. It was actually really interesting to watch. Kasey and I looked at corsets we can’t afford and we all watched part of a bird show as Michael identified the different species of predatory birds for us. We also watched part of a joust but ended up rooting for the French knight because of where we were sitting and sorta lost interest. I failed to convince Daniel and Kasey that they should get married at the Renaissance Fair in one of the garden chapels. Michael contributed five dollars to me having my cards read by a woman who’s been doing tarot readings for 33 yrs… boy did she have a mouth on her! After my reading I left with four bits of advice. 1) “Be open-minded”. 2) “Don’t date a bald guy, a guy without a job, a guy without a car, a guy who does heroin or cocaine”. 3) I will be meeting a boy who is an “artist or a musician. He will look good in his clothes. It will be fun and I should enjoy it but it won’t last because either he or myself will have a wandering eye”, and I shouldn’t expect other females to not be attracted to this guy. Per the fortune teller: “my pussy will be his holy grail” lol… And finally- most importantly 4.) “Don’t lose your shit”. She said that I would drink too much and make an angry phonecall, saying something that I would deeply regret but be unable to take back the next day. She said when after one drink when I start feeling upset, I should just stop.
On the way back to H-town, I napped in the backseat. We stopped at Chili’s for some food and I wore my sweet circlet the whole time. I got home around 9 and Terry was supposed to take me out for a date but he never called. Shocker?

Monday 11/23: Only day of classes this week before Thanksgiving break: One midterm and two exam reviews for the day I come back. When I got home I played the piano for about an hour, going over songs that I’d played for a recital several years ago. I missed it.

Tuesday 11/24: Went to work, saw a woman carrying on a bloodied yellow-lab mix that was probably hit by a car. Went and got drinks with Kim and Sweet Ross after work, then called James around 12:30 to hang out outside and enjoy the early winter weather.

Wednesday 11/25: family came in (Aunt Kate :), Uncle Kelly :), Cousin Ryan :), Aunt Hester :), and Uncle Jim :( ) for Thanksgiving and grandma’s 90th birthday party. I slept in. Eventually I got dressed and went to dimsom with our whole troop of 10 since JT was in town. Bummed that Aggie didn’t come down cause she had to work aGaIn! After delicious dimsom which everyone seemed to enjoy except dad. There was no zoo date with Terry as I anticipated by that point.
