volare and tearforger are life-savers.

spryngsnowstorm and Gabriel came up to visit yesterday (YAY!), which was fantastic. They secured us lunch and dinner, and having people over to visit with both us *and* baby was great. We hung out and chatted, having a nice mellow mid-day

As the day progressed, I started feeling not-so-great: headache, abdominal pain, dizziness, and just generally feeling a bit weak. And when Druid went with Spryng and Gabriel out to the store for a bit, I took a turn for the worst. All-in-all, I ended up unable to stand on my own, with a blood pressure of 190/110 and a heart rate in the 100's. SUUUUUUUUUUCK.

There was no way Druid could wrangle both me and Morgan to the car, so the local EMTs brought me to the local hospital, while volare, tearforger, and Imp came to our place to watch over Morgan.

After about 8 hours in the ER, the docs weren't sure exactly what caused me to fall ill so quickly, but they were able to rule out big baddies like appendicitis. We're still waiting to hear back about culture results - they are pretty sure an infection on top of dehydration was what kicked my feet out from under me. So for now, it's as much bed rest as I can, and lots of fluids. I'm back on Magnesium Sulfate for a while because my blood pressure was so high, but it's better than it could have been, for sure.

Yeah, so I'm definitely not in tip-top shape, which is rough. Last night was night #2 of Morgan being up (and screaming) through most of the night, so Druid and I are pretty wrecked today. We have a visit from a nurse today to check in on Morgan, so maybe she'll have some tips on how to get the little one to sleep at night. She's awake, and gets bored, so she screams. No amount of toys seem to do the trick - just one of us holding her - and even with co-sleeping, it's still not quite working right.

My milk's taking its time coming in, which is okay. We at least found an organic formula the baby loves to supplement her with as my milk comes in. Keep cheering for my left boobie, would ya? It's slow on the uptake. The right one's doing great, but the left one is having a hard time catching up despite nursing and pumping on that side to encourage it. It's great to have the support of the formula, but breast-feeding's the best, and I'd love it if my left breast caught on to the idea ;)

We've been asked: "What's the best thing we could do to help you?" and the answer is this: food. Juggling baby and housework, while trying to catch up on sleep makes it mighty tough to find the time to cook. Seriously, food is always welcome. It keeps us going, keeps me more able to feed Morgan, and allots an extra hour or two towards sleep catch-up!

So yeah... that's me right now. It's one big game of catch-up, and figuring out how we're going to do this when Druid runs out of paid days off will be interesting. Having volare's help in the upcoming weeks is really a life-saver. Two folks at home with the baby will make it all so much more feasible. I have the best Pack ever.

I'm all over the place this morning, and I apologize. Time to go straighten things up around the house, nurse the wee one, and try to give Druid as much sleep-time as I can before I nap again.

baby, er, postclampsia?, health
