Noisy Neighbour

So my neighbour is a quite the party animal. She often has a bunch of girls over on weeknight singing loudly and playing a super loud sound system. I actually think it's a karaoke machine.

I have never heard music like this before. It was like Electronica for toddlers or maybe even J-Pop for ravers. Lots of base, inconsistent rythms and very high-pitched female vocals. And these people knew ALL the words. EVEN THE INTROS. Why couldn't she be a regular young person with the Lady Gaga or something. Usually I can sleep through noise, but they really turned it up last night, I felt like I was in the foyer of a club on a vibrating bed. I didn't want to spoil their fun and be a jerk. I understand the weekends and even occassional late weeknight noise get-together after 11pm, but this was becoming a regular event. I decided to wait until 11:45 then banged on the wall and yelled for them to turn it down. No effect (I am not a loud banger). I lay in bed composing civil letters in my head and even got up to check what my lease said about excessive noise and interfering with reasonable comfort. I always try to be considerate. I even wear my ipod instead of using the stereo and always keep the volume reasonable when I do.

At midnight, a theatrical male voice joined in the loud drunken singing and I knew the part was going to go on a long while. I had enough and went and knocked on her door. I could even hear the music down hall. I knocked and the  music stopped immedietly. My neighbour opened the door with a hurried 'sorry sorry they're just leaving now'. Oddly enough, she whispered it.

The music turned on again a little lower and everyone shuffled out around an hour later. I'm sad because one of the reasons I disliked my old apartment was how loud the club noise was. I'm drinking a coffee (w/ honey-still trying to stick with the diet) and still feel dead on my feet. blarg. Today I had a spinach salad and quinoa. Tonight I am going to try to make a lentil and bean soup. Craving sleeps.
