Bodies of a fall
From some forgotten war
At giants' feet, they crawl
Upon a forest floor
Their yearly sacrifice
Abandons barren trees
And whispers gently, life
Into the haunting breeze
Adrip with color they
Bleed brightly through the soil
And writhe into a gray
A hero from their foil
They witness seldom new
Yet see all one can see
From hue to blushing hue
From tree to trembling tree
