Just me, trying to find out more about budget traveling in the UK. *g*
For cheap eating in between the volunteering, where food is provided, what would be my best bet for reasonably priced, but still somewhat healthy eating?
Are there a lot of bakeries around, like in Germany, where you can grab a bread roll for breakfast, or a cup of coffee and a pastry in the afternoon?
And do the grocery stores generally have delis, with salad bars, soup and sandwiches?
Cooking would be possible at the youth hostels, but I'm not sure I really want to spend the time shopping for groceries and cooking, when I could be out exploring, and at the campgrounds, I assume there are generally no cooking facilities unless you bring a camping stove (which I'm not going to lug along).
From reading Pros, I wonder about all the Take away food places mentioned. Indian, Chinese, Fish and Chips... Are places like that affordable and easy to find if you don't know the area?
Or eating at a pub? How is that for a woman alone? Would I feel like an outcast? :)
