Personality: Hayate’s personality is one of somewhat conflicting extremes all dependant on the situation. Firstly, Hayate is a caring, compassionate woman; she loves her friends and ‘family’-Hayate has no blood relatives, but considers the Wolkenritter her beloved family without a doubt, calling them her ‘kids’ even when she was a child-more than anything else. Her concept of ‘friend’ is pretty expansive, as it includes Nanoha and Fate-former enemies of her Wolkenritter family-as well as the Nakajima family, which consists predominantly of reformed ex-terrorists, though they had no control over their situation. She goes out of her way to make others happy: she is likely the goofiest of the eldest characters, often making silly jokes, acting hyperactive, designing cute or attractive cosplay for others to wear, groping other’s breasts lovingly, or dragging others to vacations and parties.

There is a detrimental side to this, however, as Hayate tends to keep her own suffering hidden so as to not burden others. This likely came as a direct result of two things: firstly, her loneliness from living the first nine years of her childhood devoid of both family and friends save for her doctor and, secondly, the fact that, being confined to a wheelchair for those years, she relied on others even though her efforts to fend for herself and to live a normal life were impressive for a nine-year-old. This appreciation for her friends’ and family’s love as well as her ingrained dislike of burdening others with her problems causes Hayate to put others before herself in all situations.
