However, America deep down is more than all of this. She isn't as oblivious as her male counterpart, though any insults about her country go ignored or she'll change the subject. America is very sensitive about her appearance, she always wants to look good to other countries and impress them. She wants to be taken seriously, and doesn't notice that her personality has the opposite effect. Because of all the criticism she gets, she takes a more self-centered approach to life. If they can't recognize how great she is, why care about them? Because of her selfishness, she'll say things without realizing it's rude and not understand why people get angry over it. However, she really does think that she's the one who has to save the world and that's why she continues to work so hard. One thing she's very sensitive about is her weight. She eats more than normal and is often criticized for it, which makes her worry about it a lot. She tries all kinds of different diets, though her lack of patience causes her to give up on them within in a week. When called fat she'll either cry or become violent, it depends on who you are. America often cares more about celebrity news than her own situation, which may seem odd at first, but it's her way of not facing her problems. Instead of hearing about her horrible economy or failing war, she prefers to know what's going on with Brangelina so she doesn't have to worry about that other stuff. Though it usually eventually bogs her down until she can't really ignore it any more.
But it's not all bad: she's very good with technology. She knows what to do with computers and can usually be seen typing away at the latest iPhone or Blackberry. She's also a great business woman (which seems to go away when she's spending money like crazy) and knows how to make deals and money. And although the other countries often see her as a slut due to how she dresses and her general behavior, she's not like that at all. While she can talk about sex freely, the act itself makes her blush. None of that can be in the movies or on television! Of course, she still loves making movies and hanging out in Hollywood, though most of her recent movies are romantic comedies, she finds reality TV much more entertaining to watch and genuinely believes all of it is real. America is also abnormally strong (even for a nation) and has been since she was a child, though she doesn't really notice her strength as different from everyone else's.
Like the male version of America, she's still afraid of horror movies, but she doesn't react as strongly to them. In fact, even while watching a scary part, she'll laugh it off (albeit nervously and not convincingly whatsoever) instead of screaming her head off. She's determined to make everyone know that a heroine like her is totally not scared at all by something like that, so she often invites Japan or England over to prove it to them. However, it usually ends with her clinging to them for the rest of the night and passing it off as a "girl-time sleepover" or, in England's case, "Shut up!" However, talk of ghosts can make her scream her head off. Despite this, or even because of this, she often watches paranormal TV shows about finding ghosts. They really aren't good for her.
