Wedding Planning Update

So we're far ahead in schedule. We'd figured out the date, location, caterer, photographer (his sister's brother-in-law, videographer (his cousin and dad), florist (my mom and florist), ceremony officiant, cake designer (his mom), stationary design (my cousin), dj (his co-worker), cermony music (his sister playing keys), color motif, party favors (courtesy by his aunt), and bridal party. So far I've got my gown and the bridal party's gowns. Pretty good since we've been engaged a month ago. We got a wedding planning book to look at the timeline. My thought process has been out there and I mean out there. I can't believe the average cost of a wedding is 30K and to be honest neither our parents or we don't have the money to shell out. I have been bargain shopping, looking at clearance and sale racks. The wedding season is coming to end and the holidays are around the corner so I figure I should shop now.
My favorite shopping experience was the bridal party gowns. I was returning two suits at Peter Harris to get my refund so I can save. Instead I exchange those for 3 bridal party gowns with a chapel train. The color was at first not my ideal theme color, but the price and materials were excellent and I couldn't pass up the oportunity. They were Vera Wang gowns that the PH merchant bought in NYC. They were not irregular or damage. Vera Wang overproduce those gowns. I know I shouldn't compromise or accomdate everyone, but I figure these were a big break for them. I still remember their facial expressions when they saw the pricetags of David's Bridal gowns. They were shocked with the price for a one-time wear. Thank goodness I bought VW gowns; they were a live saver.
Tonight we went out to Crossgates looking for ideas to add in our registry. Stores like Bath Bed & Beyond recommeded us to register before the Holidays. So far we agreed on the shape of dinner ware and silver ware. We have 3 potential registries to use. I really wish there is an IKEA in upstate NY.
Tomorrow will be another day of Wedding Planning. We have an initial meeting with our caterer. Afterwards we will visit his parents and discuss the design of the wedding cake. My goal is to get everything set before the Holidays. I don't want to be outside shopping during that season. Wish me good luck!
