Last night I saw Madonna perform live at the Centrum. I must say that having seen her on the Drowned World Tour three years ago(07-25-2001, Madison Square Garden,NYC), I liked her songs from the last tour more. I guess I am a fan of her newer material. The last tour had better sets and was a lot more theatrical. This time around she did a 20 year career retrospective. Her stage did more mechanical things and the use of video was much more prominant. Her voice three years ago was often very weak and not very impressive. This tour her voice was better than any recording she has ever done. During the song, "Mother and Father", she did some amazing shit vocally. The choreography left me dazzled and speechless. The crowd was much, much louder here in Worcester than in New York City three years ago. "Like A Prayer" was totally beautiful. Very powerful,... soulful. I nearly shit my pants when she started singing "Burning Up". My absolute favourite Madonna song of all time. She rocked out on guitar for "Material Girl"- a song that really has no effect on me, but she did it better last night than she recorded it in 1984. "Papa Don't Preah" had a revamped arrangement that was really bitchin'. For "Music" she had a dj scatching the shit out out the song and it just blew me away. Again, the choreography was the best shit I have ever had the pleasure of watching. During "Vogue" she was upside down, walking on all fours on stage. If you blinked your eyes at all, you missed a lot of cool details everywhere. The religious aspect of the show really was just sort of mixed ion everywhere and it didn't take me away from the experience one freakin' bit. I really found no issues. Overal, it was a killer evening. Every second was just wonderful.
