TM Prompt 203: Intrigue
OOC: This post is originally locked to all Brotherhood members, then changed to private a few hours later (when Theresa calms down a bit). So it’s your call if your muse saw it or not. :)
An innocent boy is denied entrance to a school because he’s a mutant. Said innocent boy is put in jail for a murder he did not commit. He’s still not out yet.
An innocent girl is murdered because she tried to call for help. Said innocent girl was a bystander in an attack meant to kill an innocent mutant doing his job.
Why is no one doing anything?
My father was an X-Man. It was his job to fix these kinds of things. To prevent them from happening. All this shit is about mutants. And up until recently, I thought they were doing their job pretty well. Now I’m not convinced. They seem content to sit back and wait for these fucking Friends of Humanity to keep attacking and killing innocent people. Laws aren’t going to stop them. Clearly, there’s no reasoning with them. So what comes next?
I never thought I’d say this, but the Brotherhood is right. Not about everything, I’m still not convinced that all human-kind are out to get us. But these Friends of Humanity are. And they need to be stopped. And the X-Men aren’t going to do that. The Brotherhood’s already taken a step in that direction. I’m trying not to believe in an-eye-for-an-eye, but it’s hard not to when your opposition certainly does.
I never thought I could ever actually join the Brotherhood, but I can’t deny it’s starting to look appealing. At least until these Friends of Humanity people are gone. And anyone else who thinks that they’re going to hurt the people I love. Anyone who has already done so.
I’m fucking pissed. It’s personal now. And I can’t take it anymore. If no one else is going to do their job, I will.
