TM 317: What do you still have from when you were young?
Heh. Not much. I didn’t have much to begin with, and I lost a lot of it between moving around and boarding school and going to live with my father. I had a few pictures of myself as a kid, but I gave those to Da. I never had a doll or a stuffed animal or something that you carry around forever. I never grew attached to those kind of things.
I suppose the Keep is mine from when I was young. Even though I don’t remember being there until I was a teenager. But it was always mine, and it was always destined to be mine. And it’s the one place where I still feel like a child. It’s so big and open, the way everything is when you’re little. The whole world seems so much larger because you’re just a tiny piece of it. That’s how I feel in the Keep. You could get lost in there. But it never bothers me, because I know eventually I’ll wander into a place I recognize. I guess that’s like childhood too.
Mostly I just have memories. That and emotional scarring. Don’t we all, right?
