Never a dull moment in Dermatology

Aug 06, 2004 11:20

At work the other day a woman comes in after clinic just balling her eyes out.

Found out today that she was getting a patch test by one of the senior residents (who shall remain nameless). He happened to puncture a vein in her neck causing massive amounts of bleeding. Clearly, she was in pain but also traumatized by the whole event. The clinic girls tried to find a resident to attend to her. They all have left for the day. Our chief dermatologist looked her over and sends her to emergency. He told her to stop by today for a follow up. The bleeding eventually subsided late last night with alot of blood loss.

Mistakes with the living patients happen...Now you can see why I would prefer to deal with the dead.
