I ordered some stuff for my wedding costume from the States. My only option was to have it delivered by courier (at great expense). It was packed and dispatched amazingly quickly, but once it arrived in Australia, it's been a stinking pile of crap trying to get it into my hands.
All inhabitants of my house work during the day, so I expected the first calling card. It was dated Monday 25/2, and is clearly marked "1st Attempt".
I call UPS on Tuesday to discuss other options of obtaining the package, and get it redirected to work. The rep says that I should receive it Wednesday. Cool.
I get home to another calling card (the package had been en route), which I ignore.
I have been waiting all frickin' day for my stuff. Reception confirmed that they would let me know as soon as it arrived. I called UPS around lunch time, and was told to wait until the end of the business day (5.30pm).
Come 5pm, still no package, so I confirm with reception nothing's showed up, and get on the phone again. Apparently, my redirection request wasn't processed by the warehouse until after the truck left this morning, and so I won't be getting my stuff until TOMORROW! This whole thing was supposed to make it easier for me to get my merchandise, not harder.
At Optus, we used Toll, who split the day into two separate delivery times, and whose staff were amazingly helpful in getting packages out to customers on time.
I'm already drafting a complaint, but I'll be looking for compensation if I don't get my stuff tomorrow. I didn't pay hundreds of dollars for a door-to-door service slower than air mail.
