My top songs of 2006

Jan 03, 2007 22:23

Rather than use iTunes this year, I’ve decided to consult my last.fm profile to see what my most-listened to songs were last year. And rather than discuss any meanings or connections, let’s see if I can remember who introduced me to them...

Breaking Benjamin - Blow Me Away
My own Halo fanboyism

Blue Öyster Cult - Take Me Away
Blue Öyster Cult - Veteran of the Psychic Wars
Blue Öyster Cult - Burnin’ for You
All BÖC songs are my own fault. Technically, we can blame that on uberbitsch, since she made me read Elric, and Michael Moorcock collaborated with the Cult. And I guess Janus introduced me to Veteran of the Psychic Wars since that was on the Heavy Metal soundtrack.

HammerFall - Hearts on Fire
Yes, okay, with this one track, yeah_hup hooked me on HammerFall

Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song
That would be my Dad’s fault.

Blue Öyster Cult - Astronomy

Annie Lennox - Love Song for a Vampire
divaflip’s the Annie Lennox fan, and she loved Coppola’s Dracula

Tenacious D - Tribute
divaflip made me listen to them because she thought I’d like them - and she was right: I like them far more than she does. And I’ll be seeing them play in two weeks time :D:D

Sarah McLachlan - Angel
Picked that one up on my own

Poets of the Fall - Late Goodbye (Theme from Max Payne 2)
lordmortis demanded I play MP2, and practically forced me to download the PotF album at the same time. He was definitely right about both the game and the band being great.

Clannad - Both Sides Now
lordmortis got me on to Clannad in high school with this one song

HammerFall - The Fallen One

Yasunori Mitsuda - Chrono And Marle - Far Off Promise
Janus and rorywhistlewood were addicts of Chrono Trigger, and turned me into a fan of the soundtrack

Chad Kroeger - Hero (feat. Josey Scott)
Triple M never stops playing Kroeger songs

HammerFall - Crimson Thunder

3 Doors Down - Kryptonite
Triple M again

Sarah McLachlan - Possession
Got it off the radio

Blue Öyster Cult - Cities on Flame With Rock and Roll

Metallica - The Unforgiven
Could one go to school in the 90s and not hear Metallica?

Meat Loaf - Everything Louder Than Everything Else

Linkin Park - Breaking the Habit
Radio again

SR-71 - Politically Correct
rorywhistlewood is to blame for this one
