Why do BMXers have that bond? Where does it come from? The diversity of people i've met through riding is staggering. From working class to middle class, black, white, asian, and everything inbetween. A cross section of soicety with all the baggage of birth removed. A common goal between each of us, just to ride. Maybe its that common ground that breaks down so many barriers that fear and ignorance put up. I feel thats only the first step though. A rider becomes more than someone with a similar interest, the bond begins to grow that bit deeper. No family or friend knows me as well as random riders do. Riding can strip that front we all put up as we're laid bare before all those who care to watch. Your friends that you ride with see you more scared than you have ever been, bottling rails/ or really hurting yourself. They have also seen you pick your self up and suceed in a way most people will never do; through the hours of work put into perfecting a trick and then finally pulling it. Anger, Fear, and Glory, completley laid open in front of your friends. They see the real you, completley undisguised. For a person to do that, a culture of trust is developed. Its not just the common cause, its the shared emotions expierenced on that journey.-Jamie Duncan
