AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it's all over!
13 books, probably one of the longest series I know of, and it's all over.
And he barely solved any of the mysteries!
Suuuuure the Baudelaires got to learn all about the many secrets that I had been clamouring to know (which I guess was somewhat comforting) but I wanted to know them! I read 13 books and nothing is that clear. I barely know anymore about the VFD, the circumstances of the Baudelaire's parent's death, the mysterious sugar bowl, or the countless other secrets hinted at but never revealed!!! Arrrrrgggghhh it is the most frustrating feeling in the world!
This book also surprised in that the ending was a relatively happy one. Definitely not happy for the reader who had actually hoped to find out the meaning of all of those mysteries, but happy in that Count Olaf died and the Baudelaires survived. It all seems so backwards. I don't really know what I had expected at the end of this series, but I guess I always assumed the Baudelaires would die, because that's the biggest tragedy of them all. But then again, maybe it's not. Maybe it's more cruel to leave the reader with a seemingly unfinished story that never really answers any of the questions it posed. AAAAGRrrgh it's so frustrating!!
And then WOAH that ending sure threw me a curve-ball. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. So is Beatrice the Baudelaire's mother?? Because they said they would name the baby after one of their parents... and if so, was Lemony Snicket in some sort of love triangle?? What does this all mean??
What an utterly confusing thirteen-book series.
