A British tabloid recently conducted a survey to find out which dead rock star the public would most like to see brought back for "one show, one show only." Here are the results:
1. John Bonham
2. Freddie Mercury
3. Elvis Presley
4. John Lennon
5. Jimi Hendrix
6. Kurt Cobain
7. Bob Marley
8. Jim Morrison
9. Johnny Cash
10. Jeff Buckley
11. Stevie Ray Vaughan
12. Dimebag Darrell
13. Frank Zappa
14. Ian Curtis
15. Janis Joplin
16. Bon Scott
17. Jerry Garcia
18. Phil Lynott
19. Karen Carpenter
20. Keith Moon
A few observations:
1) Karen Carpenter IS NOT a rock star. She has a pleasant enough singing voice, but she doesn't belong on this list. I mean, really....
2) John Bonham is a drummer. I suspect what people are voting for there is a Led Zeppelin reunion with Bonzo at the kit....
3) Every decade from the 60's through the 90's is represented. The preponderance of figures here are from the "golden age" of rock, the 60's-70's, as one would guess....
4) I am impressed with the high ranking Freddie Mercury got. He beat Lennon, Hendrix, Jerry Garcia, Stevie Ray, Morrison and Cobain.
And not a single vote for a Ramone. Shame on the voters....
Anybody you'd add/delete/whatever...?
