When Molly returns, Martin's seated at the table with a fresh coffee for himself and a latte for Molly. He waves and gives a small, awkward smile before standing and pulling out a chair for her.

"Hello. Again. Um -- I didn't say my name earlier, sorry -- " He offers his hand and what he hopes is a more confident smile, "I'm Martin. ( Read more... )

Molly wiggles her fingers just the slightest bit in an awkward wave. She's feeling awfully strange about all this - what was one supposed to talk about in this sort of situation? She's thrown off from her thoughts by the fact he actually stood up to pull out her chair for her. "Oh, um, th-thank you," she nods, slowly extending her own slender hand to touch his.

"I'm Molly. Pleased to meet you, Martin. E-Even if the circumstances are a bit, well, silly."

"I don't often meet people this way, it's true. Though I er -- I don't very often meet people. That is to say I do, but in a more professional setting. Otherwise I mostly keep to myself. So this is rather nice, really. Not -- not nice that I spilled coffee on you, but nice to meet someone new?"

Martin waits for her to sit before he sits as well, toying with his coffee while he waits for it to cool. "Do you come here often? I mean -- no that sounds awful, doesn't it? I only meant -- well not as a line, but as a question. I like it because it's close to the library, and it's reasonably priced, so..."

He forgets the point he was trying to make and sips at his coffee to stop himself talking.

She slowly slides into the chair, hands carefully wrapping around the cup of her latte. The man - Martin - isn't exactly the most eloquent of men, but she can understand for the most part. There's a long pause on her part before she finally responds to his question.

"..Oh, um, I come here once in awhile," she finally replies. "Coffee's sort of, well, essential for my job, and they're got the best price for my budget." She laughs nervously, smoothing back a stray lock of hair. "Do you work in the library? O-Or just a bookworm?"

"Just a bit of a bookworm on a budget, actually. And I haven't much room in my flat, so there's no real place to keep books. A library is sort of perfect for my situation, really. Besides, it's quiet there, and it's not very quiet where I live.

I'm an airline pilot, actually," he smiles, perking up at the prospect of talking about work. "Coffee's essential for my job as well, really. What do you do?"
