Good times

Yeah, pretty good times all around. I guess Anna has already posted a full report on the Santa Cruz adventure, so I'm pretty much just going to fill in some blanks, as it were. Since I'm a fairly skilled blank-filler and all.

Anyway, I was in a pretty jovial mood on the way to Santa Cruz, which in my case translates into a flood of quasi-funny, completely random comments. I'm pretty sure I was driving everyone crazy, especially Colin (Miguel showed remarkable patience with me this trip, I was surprised!). Fortunately, Colin was driving and I was on the back seat, so I was insulated from his violence. At some point we arrive at Colin's apartment, which was surprisingly nice (considering his last residence wasn't all that flashy). We decided we needed food, so we headed off to an Italian restaurant for Lasagna, Ravioli and [random green dish], where we met up with Irene to complete our party. "Mmmm, ravioli!", I hear you say. Wrong! They screwed up the ravioli, my personal Italian dish of choice. *sigh*. I should have known better than to trust hippies with my dinner, heh. To be fair, though, the lasagna and the green stuff were pretty good.

After that, it was time to go to the beach and play some volleyball. I teamed up with Anna and Minh-Chau initially, and we pretty much owned Colin, Irene and Miguel. Unfortunately, Minh-Chau decided to take a break, and things suddenly looked a lot gloomier for Team Boris (the team obviously revolved around me). To make matters worse still, Irene quit Team Reject, and Minh-Chau took her place. We were devastated! How sad that someone with one arm is the deciding factor in a volleyball game. Needless to say, we called it a day after the one set and got some ice cream so Anna and I could nurture our injured pride.

After the ice cream we relaxed at Colin's for a while. Colin and Anna felt they had to prove that the hippie-label was granted them for a reason, so they downed some shots, heh. No real change in Colin's behavior, but Anna seemed "a bit tipsy". I decided it probably wouldn't be too hot of an idea to drink heavily that night, so I just retreated into my corner and slowly downed a single icy cold Heineken. Very tasty stuff. At that point I was content to just ponder some things and listen to the others talk, which evidently worried some people. I was fine! Just not very talkative at that moment. In any case, after some time it was finally time for the beach bonfire, so we got some supplies at Safeway and were off to Seabright.

Sitting around the fire was nice. I constructed a marshmallow roasting device so I wouldn't burn my hands. I actually ended up with some top-quality marshmallows, but for some reason no one was interested! So I ate them myself, even though I didn't have much of an appetite. Then, out of nowhere, these two Welsh kids show up and start asking about their lost friend. They kind of freaked me out, even though Anna was chatting away with them happily, heh. After that, a guy named George showed up, who seemed alright to me. He actually found a use for the lighter I had taken with me, he was lighting a crumpled up cigarette with it. After four tries he actually succeeded, too! That amused me. So yeah, at some point I was asked if I had any crushes in High School, and I admitted that I'd had a thing for Irene, which really unleashed a barrage of confessions from people, heh. It was interesting to listen to. Sorry guys, you missed out on some shocking revelations! Now you'll just have to purchase the information from me, I suppose. I charge a flat fee of $10 per news item; let me know via AIM.

Anyway, it was pretty late when we finally decided to leave the beach. We were supposed to go to Denny's after, but Irene spoke up just before we reached it and Colin turns the car around to head to the Santa Cruz Diner. D'oh! So close... yet so far away. I was in the mood for something healthy, so I ordered the mixed fruit salad. Bad call. The pineapple tasted like leather, while the strawberries were way too sour. Oh well, it happens. Most of us were starting to feel pretty tired by that time, Minh-Chau even managed to get a little shut-eye! Amazing, that booth didn't look all that comfy. When Colin & Irene's singing finally drove us to insanity, we picked up our stuff from Colin's place and left. I'm glad I went with Irene, I don't think I'd have been too comfortable with the speed Colin was making, heh. And so, we arrive at Colin's house, where everyone pretty much passes out.

I have more to say, I really do, but my Spidey-senses (disguised as the pain receptors in my fingers) are telling me to stop typing. I must obey. I'll pump out another update later. A final word to the wise:

ANNA DOESN'T LIKE ME ANYMORE!
