swimming was wonderful. it was like living in an idyll for a moment.
it's a small pond, with a gravel beach that green grass has mostly taken over. the rest of the gravel has slowly stolen into the pond, for the sunfish to play in and nest. they swirl around when you come in, and you can almost imagine them as birds, singing at you in vexation as you walk through their living rooms. the water is green and lively and the old wood of the dock, floating in the middle of the water, is warm and smooth. it takes muscle to pull yourself up onto it, like it should, but then the feeling of sun drying real water off of you is your reward. the pond is loudly quiet: the warm wind ripples the water, the dragon flies are everywhere like butterflies filled with purpose and drive, and the sunfish leap from the water to catch them as they can.
i can think of only one way it could have been nicer.
whose in?
