High School Never Ends

"One A is a season of grace, of chances, choices and changes. We have much to learn, to experience, to share to be grateful for, we are loved. Seize each day."

-Dr. Onofre R. Pagsanghan, 1A Moderator

How could someone miss something that was so routine and even tiring to a point? How could someone miss something that seemed forever? Everyday I saw the same faces, socialized with the same personalities. Everyday I heard the same laughs, the same jokes, the same names, the more or less same insights. Everything seemed endless.

As I entered high school, I wished to be taught by the great Sir Pagsi. My cousin, also one of Sir Pagsi's students, always told stories to me about how great Sir was. He was a teacher who did not only teach English, but also taught life.

First day of classes, I was quite uncomfortable at first. I was surrounded by the best of the best, the smartest of the smart, I was going to be taught by the great Sir Pagsi. But, for some prophetic coincidence, he assured us, "There is a reason that we're here. There's a reason why you guys are in this classroom, at this particular time. You are not here because you got lucky. You are here because God wanted you to be there. God wanted us to meet and become A2008."

Four years have passed. A lot of things have happened. These things cannot be listed down in blogs, diaries or reports. These things are memories and milestones that will forever be in our hearts. I could not simply write down the things that happened for the sake of justice. I would not give justice to these life-changing experiences by just stating them in a blog and leaving the reader clueless on how these felt and not making them feel the rollercoaster of emotions. Anyone who graduate from high school would know what I mean.

As I enter college, I put in mind that we are not here by coincidence. I am here for a reason. I did not choose to go to UP. I went to Ateneo. I did not choose to go Management Engineering. I went to BS Psychology.

The title seems inappopriate, don't you think? It's the start of college and I'm still ranting about my frustrations that high school is already over. Well, not really. High school never ends because all the people we have encountered in high school are now part of oursleves. My blockmates all give a part of their high school experiences, values and visions  to each other everyday. High school has really not ended. In fact, it has only just begun. What use is high school when it is kept? High school should be shared with everyone and strengthened through time. It is something that we were fortunately gifted with to be shared.
